times. Camp was born the son of a preacher on in Lafayette, Indiana. He started to play guitar at Bible college, where he was encouraged to get into music ministry, and soon found himself performing at Christian music events all over California. It was here that he met his first wife, Melissa. The two were married in 2000, but she died in 2001 of ovarian cancer. Camp poured his sorrow and faith into his first album, called Stay, which was released by the BEC label in 2002. A critical and commercial success, Stay spawned five singles that reached the top of the Christian Charts, including "I Still Believe," which spoke to Camp's commitment to faith even while enduring great pain and suffering. A few years later, Camp met another woman who would become his wife and began a period of keen exploration, which would lead to his second album for BEC--Carried Me: The Worship Project, which matched the gold record success of Stay, and garnered Camp two Dove Award trophies for Best Male Vocalist and Best New Artist, solidifying his status as a Christian performer to watch.



In 2005, Camp released two albums -- a studio set, Restored, which rose to number 45 on the Billboard Top Albums chart and spawned three number one Christian singles, and a live disc, Live Unplugged from Franklin TN. Camp also recorded the song "Open Up Your Eyes" for the soundtrack of the hit film The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, which earned him another Dove Award. Camp went back into the studio to record Beyond Measure, which was released in October 2006. He is also credited as producer for his wife's album titled Don't Wait, which was released in September, 2006. His first single off Beyond Measure became a staple of Christian radio stations and eventually reached #1, demonstrating that faith and popular music can go hand in hand.
