Brad Paisley music biography continued...
distinctive blending of traditional country with modern styles, he has become a top selling artist with four commercially successful albums. Born October 28, 1972 in Glen Dale, West Virginia, Paisley grew up spending most of his time watching his grandfather play the guitar. When he was eight years old his grandfather gave him his first guitar and taught him how to play. A few years later he formed Brad Paisley & the C-Notes and wrote his first song "Born on Christmas Day" when he was twelve. During a performance at a local Rotary Club, Brad was noticed by Tom Miller, the program director of WWVA, and asked to appear on their Saturday night broadcast Jamboree USA, in which he would become a regular for eight years.
In 1993, he enrolled at Belmont University where he made several contacts who would help him land a songwriting deal with EMI Music Publishing. Meanwhile, he earned extra income singing and playing on demos, one of which was discovered by Arista Records who became eager to sign him to their label. Who Needs Pictures appeared in 1999 featuring his two number one singles "He Didn't Have to Be" and "We Danced". Paisley became an instant star winning the Country Music Association's Horizon Award and the Academy of Country Music's Best New Male Vocalist title in 2000. In 2001, he was inducted into the Opry Hall of Fame after forty appearances on the show. The release of his sophomore album, Part II, followed a few months later spawning his third number one single "I'm Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin' Song)". Mud on the Tires was issued in 2003 including the popular singles "Celebrity", "Whiskey Lullaby" featuring Alison Krauss and the number one smash title track. Paisley's most recent effort, Time Well Wasted delivered the popular lead single "Alcohol", as well as the number one hits "When I Get Where I'm Going" featuring Dolly Parton and "The World".
