The iPod Shuffle is one of the smallest MP3 players on the market, at just over an inch tall and only 1.6 inches wide, it's comparable in design to a fancy tie clip. The tiny little Player,is perfect for walking or taking the subway, or for when you're working out.
Features
The shuffle switch is really the biggest feature on this little MP3 Player, however other goodies include the built in clip to make it easy on the go and a nice little dock so the iPod Shuffle has a place to sleep at night.
Design
The casing is very sturdy, as you'd expect from an iPod, but the clip does seem like it could break pretty easily. Esthetically however the case looks very sleek and modern, rounded edges on two sides stop it from being a boring rectangle to the eye. It also has no screen at all, just like the original iPod shuffle. Some MP3 player reiviews think that the lack of a display makes the shuffle hard to operate, however it adds to the novelty of the MP3 player more, truly randomizing the music it plays.
Audio Quality
The audio quality on the iPod Shuffle is the same as the headphones you use with it, considering there's no eq. However, the standard headphones that come with the shuffle are like those on any other iPod, mildly uncomfortable and easy to blow out, so think about spending a little money on headphones while your out getting your iPod Shuffle.
Interface
There is no display so there is no real interface, however the few buttons on the device are all easily found and simply labeled.
Performance
Considering the tiny size of the player, and the obvious lack of space for a big battery, it has a descent life span. 12 Hours is about what you would expect and need from an MP3 player like the iPod Shuffle.
So what does this all tell us? The iPod Shuffle is super reliable, easy to use and good on the fly. Just don't count on knowing what's next, unless you memorize your playlists.
